Replay – King's Field
Today, Japanese developer From Software is famous for starting a masochistic craze with the "Souls" series of games. But before Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne there was King's Field. This early From Software title planted the sadistic game design roots the developer would become known for. This cryptic first-person RPG, with its deliberate combat and vague direction, laid the groundwork for the Dark Souls series.
Similar to Final Fantasy, not every entry in the series made it over to America right away. King's Field launched on PlayStation in North America in1996, but it was actually King's Field II in Japan.
