New Directions For Dungeons & Dragons

The world’s oldest role-playing game has persisted in part because it’s constantly reinventing itself. While individual fans can (and do) wax philosophical about their favorite long-lost edition or setting of D&D, there’s no doubt that part of the game’s tenacity is the willingness to steer it along new paths. The Wizards of the Coast team recently revealed some of the biggest new initiatives in some time; it will be up to the gaming community to decide how it’s all received.

The core tabletop D&D game is getting some new magic-themed expansions with the Arcana Unleashed books this fall, which include both a rules/character expansion and a dedicated high-level adventure book involving the always villainous Red Wizards of Thay.
