PlayStation Portal Cloud Game Streaming Beta update

PlayStation Portal Update Adds Gameplay Capture, Game Sorting, And Other Features To Cloud Game Streaming Beta

PlayStation Portal owners will soon be treated to a new update adding quality-of-life features to its Cloud Game Streaming Beta. The feature allows players to stream certain games to the portable device without needing a PS5.

It’s important to note that the Cloud Game Streaming Beta is currently only available to PS Plus Premium members. A PlayStation Blog post details the additions, which includes a new sorting option to better organize the available beta games (by name, release date, and how recently they were added to PS Plus). Players can now capture gameplay while streaming cloud games with the Portal’s Create button. Captures will be uploaded to the cloud server and stored for 14 days after creation.

When the streaming server is full, a new queue feature puts players in a digital line and displays the estimated wait time before they can begin their play session. Gameplay will now pause itself during cloud streaming whenever the PS Portal quick menu is opened, a system error message is displayed, and when the power button is pressed one time (which will also put the Portal into rest mode).

When you’ve been inactive for over 10 minutes during a game streaming session, you’ll now receive a notification stating the game will close in 60 seconds. Lastly, Sony has added a user feedback screen at the end of a streaming session asking players to rate the quality of their experience to identify improvement areas.

These updates will become available after downloading a system update later today.
