Ubisoft Touts 6 Million Trials Frontier Downloads In First Week

by Jeff Cork on Apr 18, 2014 at 04:49 AM

Ubisoft has announced that Trials Frontier, the iOS version of RedLynx's motorcycle-platforming game, has been downloaded more than 6 million times during its first week of availability. It's currently the number one free app on Apple's App Store.

Ubisoft says company has big post-launch plans for the free-to-play game, including additional bikes, missions, and "infinite multiplayer brawls." If you bought Frontier's recently released companion Trials Fusion on consoles earlier this week, you can earn some additional clothing for your character, too.

Our Take
As Kato pointed out in his review, the game does a great job of nailing the edge-of-your-seat thrills that the series has delivered over the years. It comes at a price, however, with annoying cooldowns and currency getting in the way. It'll be interesting to see if people stick it out after the career structure gets more gated. Regardless, with six million downloads and counting, there are bound to be more than enough whales among them to justify the way things are set up.
