Atari Scares Up Downloadable Haunted House Reboot

by Jeff Cork on Jul 14, 2010 at 05:04 AM

Remember the old Atari game Haunted House? Congratulations! You’re old, like me. For the uninformed, Haunted House was a maze game where you played as a pair of eyes in a spooky mansion. Armed with only a flashlight, our ocular hero navigated dark passageways and tried to avoid bats and ghosts. Hey, it was a simpler time, OK?

Today, Atari announced that it is bringing the game back this fall on the Wii, Xbox Live, and PC. The update takes place 30 years after the events of the first game (hooray for continuity!), and stars the grandson of the original hero. First things first, the eyes are back! That’s great news for me and about four other people. Judging from the trailer below, it looks like players will have to manage their fear levels as they roam through the creaky hallways of Graves Mansion.

A Yars’ Revenge update had better be in the works next. Or else. Or else.
