Trailer Shows Mortal Kombat Getting Back To Its Bloody Roots
Mortal Kombat is coming back, through an update that's as much about reclaiming its old-school glory as it is pushing the franchise ahead. The game, simply called Mortal Kombat, is being developed by NetherRealm Studios, headed up by series creator and creative director Ed Boon. It appears to be taking a similar approach to Super Street Fighter 4's 2D+ presentation, with fighting taking place on a single plane and a camera that zooms in from various angles to highlight the action. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive boasts that the game will feature the deepest story mode of any fighting game, though that bar isn't exactly going to be impossible to hop over.
