LittleBigPlanet 2 Announced, Trailer Released

by Annette Gonzalez on May 10, 2010 at 05:00 AM

Last week when we revealed our upcoming Gears of War 3 cover, you might've noticed a tidbit regarding a certain sequel that has generated lots of Sack-related buzz over the weekend. Today Sony has confirmed that Sackboy will in fact make a comeback in LittleBigPlanet 2 when the game is released later this year.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is set to push the Play, Create, Share motto adopted by Sony in bigger ways than ever providing players with even more levels and an expansive toolset for limitless opportunities. Want a peek at the action? Check out the trailer on the PlayStation Blog or below. The video shows how you'll be able to create more than just platforming levels, but entire games in any genre. Create your own shooters, on-rails side scroller, or be the person responsible for the Sackboy remake of Final Fantasy VII we've all been waiting for.

According to reports, a member of Media Molecule once said a sequel would be counterproductive and fragment the community, however there's no need to worry here. The trailer assures us that the two million user-created levels in existence are going no where and will still be available for play.
