EA Scores NBA Jam's Mark Tremell, Presumably From Downtown

by Jeff Cork on Jan 08, 2010 at 02:56 AM

Earlier this week, rumors circulated that EA Sports had acquired the rights to Midway's arcade baller NBA Jam. In an interesting turn of events, the company has announced that Mark Turmell has been hired as senior creative director of the Central Gameplay Group at EA Tiburon. Those of you who don't recognize his name should be ashamed of yourselves. In addition to working on games like Smash TV, WWF Wrestlemania, NFL Blitz, and MLB Slugfest, Turmell designed and programmed a little game called...NBA Jam.

There's a nice little Q&A on EA Sports' official blog. There aren't any incredible revelations, though readers will learn that EA Sports are awesome and that he is excited about the new position. OK, so he is technically working on Madden and NCAA football games, and an NBA Jam game technically hasn't been confirmed by anyone at EA. Still, it's a pretty interesting coincidence, if that is indeed all it is.
