Uncharted 2 Fails To Hit NPD Top 20

by Tim Turi on Dec 11, 2009 at 06:35 AM

All 20 top selling games for the month of November have been released, and the surprises keep on coming. Unfortunately, games 11-20 aren’t accompanied by hard numbers, but even without that data the glaring absence of Uncharted 2 is clear for all to see. We’ve got the full list, so check it out below.

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
4. Assassin’s Creed II (360)
5. Left 4 Dead 2 (360)
6. Wii Sports Resort (Wii)
7. Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
8. Assassin’s Creed II (PS3)
9. Dragon Age: Origins (360)
10. Mario Kart (Wii)
11. Wii Play (Wii)
12. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii)
13. Value Game Bundle (Wii)
14. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story (DS)
15. Dragon Age: Origins (PS3)
16. Value Game Bundle (Wii)
17. God of War Collection (PS3)
18. Halo 3: ODST (360)
19. Borderlands (360)
20. Madden NFL 10 (360)

Nintendo continues to dominate the list, with the controller-bundled Wii Play and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games holding down high positions in the 11-20 range. Wii and Nintendo DS value bundles also crept into the rankings, likely finding their way into the shopping carts of bargain-minded holiday shoppers.

Also worth noting in light of Uncharted 2's absence is Sony CEO, Jack Tretton's statement issued yesterday regarding November's sales and the upcoming holiday. In the same breath Tretton reflected on a successful November for Sony, he also reminded everyone of Uncharted 2's impressive Metacritic score of 96. His praise for Drake's latest crusade is particularly interesting in light of the game's drop from number one in October to complete obscurity in November.

Uncharted 2 isn't the only surprise drop-out from October to November. Brütal Legend and Forza 3 Motorsport are two high-profile games that reviewed very well but clearly can't tread water in a holiday season leaning on brand-reliability and value. Also surprising is the steep descent of Gearbox Software's awesome role-playing-shooter Borderlands, as the 360 SKU slipped from position 3 to 19.

What surprised you the most about the top 20 selling games of November? Did one of you steal all the copies of Uncharted 2 in the world?
