Double Fine's Broken Age Part 1 Arrives For Backers Next Week
Double Fine's longer in development than we expected it to be, Kickstarted point and click adventure game Broken Age, will see the release of its first part to backers next week.
According to a tweet from Tim Schafer, and a confirmation offered to Joystiq by Double Fine, the first part of Broken Age will be available to Kickstarter backers on Tuesday, January 14.
Haven't shipped a game of my own in 4.5 years, an adventure game in 16, a point-n-click in almost 20. Next Tuesday is going to be exciting!

Double Fine's Broken Age Kickstarter campaign raised an impressive $3 million after the development studio only asked for $400,000 to make a point and click adventure game in 2012. Last year, Double Fine announced the game would be split into two parts in an effort to raise additional funds for the game, which had grown in scope dramatically.

Our Take
Broken Age has been a long time coming. In the scope of typical game development, it has been pretty average, but as backers have been witnessing every moment of development, from the successes to the stumbles, it has made the game's creation process feel especially stretched. I, as I am sure many are, can't wait to finally spend some time with the game. There's a lot of expectations riding on Broken Age's release in terms of of the Kickstarter process and how games can benefit from it and we'll start getting feedback from backers starting next week.
