Forza Motorsport 6

Developers across genres are working toward achieving photorealism in gaming. Racing titles have often been showcases for superior technology, but a new commercial for Forza 6 looks backward as well as forward.

The video below takes from the earliest days of video game racing with arcade title Gran Trak 10 (Atari), to Pole Position (Atari), RC Pro Am (Rare), Chase HQ (Taito), and finally Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco). The lines have gotten sleeker and the turns sharper over the years.

If this gets your engine revving, you won’t have long to wait. Forza Motorsport 6 will be out on Xbox One on September 15. For more, check out our video tour of the demo (available now) from earlier this week.
