My FIRST Experience
I was probably 5 or 6 when I was first introduced into gaming. My father told us (my family and I) that he was going out to buy a "game". My initial thought was a board game since, at that young, ignorant age, I was unaware of the existence of video games since all we had were Monopoly and the such. When my father returned, he was holding a strange box. It was labeled "Sega Genesis" (although I was too young to read and the title was told to me). He hooked it up to the television set. I was perplexed as to what he was doing with this "Sega Genesis". "How can you play a game on the TV?" I naively thought. When the TV was turned on, I was amazed! I was handed a controller with a little game called "Vector Man" and I was plunged into the video gaming world... FOREVER!
The Years Following
I have been playing the Genesis for some time now. It was the only console I played and knew about and I had my run with the Sonic franchise, both Vector Man 1 and 2, Street Fighter and Primal Rage. There were other games but the titles escape me. It was at the end of my Second Grade year and I got some great grades so I was granted something for my efforts. My cousins got this new video game console with 3D graphics! It was the best! The closest I got to a 3D game was "Sonic 3D Blast" which I sucked at and gave up. Anyway, I was given money for my good grades and that new 3D console was what I wanted! I was taken to Toys R Us and asked for the PlayStation with a Naughty Dog title called Crash Bandicoot 2. Back then games were relatively new to Toys R Us so they had these tickets with the title of the game on it and we went to the front of this box with a guy sticking his head through a window. We handed him the tickets and he proceeded to get the PS and CB2! I was later introduced to Tekken 3 (Tekken 1 and 2 were old by then so i got 3 first) and the Twisted Metal franchise. Couple years later I got a GameBoy Color with Pokemon Blue version and later Yellow version (Special Pikachu Edition). N64 was bought later mainly for Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 and Super Smash Bros. I have become a multi-console owner and it helped that my father liked to play game too so were bought them often.
