Lego Shows Off New Super Mario Power-Up Packs

by Brian Shea on May 20, 2020 at 01:54 PM

Earlier this year, Lego announced a new collaboration with Nintendo's iconic Super Mario brand. The Adventures with Mario Starter Course features the man himself, plus several builds that connect together to create a long course for Lego Mario to navigate, including a Goomba and Bowser Jr. We also know that Piranha Plant Slide and Bowser's Castle sets will be sold as additional expansions. Today, Lego and Nintendo announced new Lego Super Mario Power-Up Packs, which allow you to dress up Nintendo's mascot in four of his most well-known power-up suits.

First up is Fire Mario, which makes the iconic fireball sound when you tilt him. Propeller Mario makes the propeller sound when you fly him upwards, and then makes coin sounds if you move him back and forth. Cat Mario makes, well, cat sounds, and creates coin-collection sounds if you climb him up a wall. Builder Mario makes the block-smash sound if you slam him down – given our experience with Legos, maybe be a little gentle with the slam.

The Lego Super Mario Power-Up Packs will launch as separate purchases alongside the rest of the Lego Super Mario set on August 1.
