What do you think is the most overrated series out there?
I don' t think there are any "overrated" games. Even though some people don't like Halo or COD it doesn't mean they are overrated. COD and Halo clearly got the appropriate amount of attention warrented by the amount of people who enjoy both series. I would classify a game to be overrated if its a terrible game judged by the masses but was advertised like it was going to be game of the year. I don't think there has been a game heralded as "Game of the Year" and then completely bombed.........yet.

I'll tell you what's really overrated - Gears of War. It's a bunch of beefy guys in armor carrying big guns and shooting monsters - gee, what an origninal concept. Seriously, this game has nothing to offer that Halo or Call of Duty doesn't already. Get over it guys.
Oh, and that whole-taking-cover-by-slamming-your-back-against-the-wall-and-kicking-up dust thing really looked cool - five years ago!!
Gears of War , it's just a violent rip-off of Halo, And Master Chief is Wayy cooler than Marcus Fenix
Halo 3 and ODST is just horrible, the story doesn't make sense at all. The only reason I play Halo 3 is for the next gen multiplayer or else Halo 2 all the way.
Gears Of War, I get all psyched with the hype train that is Epic games and Cliffy B. It's going to be RADICAL!!!, they said. It was lame, short, glitchy, and very unoriginal. Both of the games. Sad part is I was disheartened after the first one, but 2 tremendous E3 shows and a working Lancer (sort of) prototype later, I was set. Turns out I got hosed again, oh well. Hey did you hear Gears 3 is coming!?!? It's going to be RADICAL!
God of War and Gears of War are both highly overrated and highly repititive. All you do is either shoot or slash the same enemies over and over and over again. I've played both originals and sequels and I could care less if I ever played a God of War or Gears of War game again. Plus I love the hype built up about these games only for me to buy them, play them and while playing them think "Huh this feels almost exactly like the last game from this series."

Halo : First was good, Second was beast, Third just fell through and sucked
Final Fantasy: I get they are great story and fun and amazing, but i turn based games are just too slow. i LOVED Kingdom Hearts cuz it wasnt traditional turn based RPG
Madden: play football - all the *** time
any sports game: same formula year after year
silent hill: just out there, not really scary, and just .. odd
oh and soul calibur ... the first two were fun, the third was awesome ( i loved the side game you can play which was like a big game of chess) and the forth SUCKED i mean there wasn't even a 'story line' each character had the same paragraphs and purpose, at least the third one gave you choices and switched it up a little.
just out of curiosity im not trying to sound like a ***, but when you say 'colors' did you mean like the lasers, and other bright stuff or did you mean how its not like a 'dark and gritty' game like environment wise?

I'll tell you what's really overrated, yet I'll probably be the only one to suggest it, GTA 4. The game gets 10/10's all over the place yet it's just an absolute boring piece of garbage.
Otherwise I might say COD multiplayer wise. The multiplayer isn't bad or anything it just gets old and stale after a while for me.
I think Halo is a great game but it just isn't the best.
