What's Happening

Modern Warfare 3 Already?

Yes, what better way to make a sequel to a game than to rush its production instantaneously after the last game is released? So, I was watching Inside Gaming (love it) and it turns out there is a subdivision of Activision working on Modern Warfare 3. The alleged group, Sledgehammer, is already in mass hysteria working on the proclaimed franchise, and based on Kovic's information, it will be a prequel for Ghost, the special character in MW2. Many are pretty sure it's Gaz from the first game, and it probably is, but that's not the issue here. If Activision plans to keep up the routine of making game sequels as fast as possible (for example, Guitar Hero), it will probably lead to some disappointments. Hopefully, they'll take their time while they're developing the game, but I'm not implying that it will be bad at all. I also hope that they put a little more effort into their story. The first one had a superior campaign to the second, so maybe they'll approach campaign as an important issue when working on the game. If you would like to see the episode, here you go:

Do you think they'll do good on this one? Submit your thoughts below.

  • While excited to hear that there may be a spin off for Ghost, I would prefer for them to take their time and make a quality product.

  • this reminds me more of SOCOM than anything else... I didn't even finish SOCOM III before the next 2 games came along

  • 1. Its going to suck since its not Infinity Ward

    2. Activision is going to make CoD the next Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero...

    3. Its the same voice actor, but Gaz died in MW1. And its not like Captain Price because you actually see Gaz get shot.

  • I'm not going to get all worked up about it because no-one knows the specifics. As of yet, it's still all rumor and speculation. You never know, it could turn out to be a quality game and just because they are already working on it doesn't mean it's going to come out soon. They may take well over a year or two before it's even released. Secondly, if it is Gaz's story, who's to say that it won't be a prequel rather than a sequel. He was kinda old in the original, so it could go back to an earlier era...like I said, all rumor and speculation at this point.

  • Hopefully they take there time.

  • If it isn't a full blown sequel than call it something like Modern Warfare:Ghost Story or something, let Infinity Ward work on Modern Warfare 3, other companies don't do as good with the franchise

  • Possible title: "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Ghosts"

  • I cant wait cuz i dont have XBL

  • Wow, that sucks man. I thought that would be the whole reason that you would buy the game.

  • Hey, did you know Sledgehammer is headed up by Glen Schofield? He was formerly the executive producer of Dead Space. While thats interesting, I think Activision's insisting on digging themselves a hole, if they prove us wrong, thats cool, but c'mon.

  • Yeah, I think Infinity Ward treated them way better than Treyarch, and unless I see anything that will make my jaw drop when I see a trailer for it, I doubt it will top the first two.

  • Already....wow I haven't even gotten the MW2.

  • Now it's become obvious that they're milking the franchise because no matter what, fans will buy the game (>_>........*Insert Blade reference here*)

  • They are working on it but it doesn't say that there is a release date.  Might come not come out for 2 years.  Never know.

  • I don't think it will be as good as MW2 but it is a spin off.

  • If it's not going to be made by Infinity Ward, I am going to be very skeptical about the quality of the game.

  • Of course. What is the point of creating a money monster and then not rushing a sequel out a year later? Not doing it might actually give the product good quality the second time around! Blasphemy! (See Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and New Moon for great examples of sequelitis).

  • like someone stated before, if activision is haandling the development i am apprehensive about the quality of the game. i reserved and was up very early ot pick up my copy of MM2, but if Activiosion is developing it i may nott reserve it, i mte jst wait and read reviews. but who nkwos mabye they will surprise us.
