Nintendo Brings Back World Championships As Part Of E3 Plans

by Mike Futter on May 13, 2015 at 06:12 AM

Back in 1990, the house of Mario held the Nintendo World Championships. The company hasn't forgotten about the event, with the most recent nod to it found in NES Remix 2. At this year's E3, the Nintendo World Championships will return.

The event kicks off on May 30, with regional events held around the country at Best Buy locations. Then, the company's E3 plans start on Sunday, June 14, at the Nokia Theatre for the championships. Those in Los Angeles can watch live, and the event will be streamed.

For its show announcements, Nintendo will be hosting a video program (as it has for the past two years). That will take place at 9 a.m. Pacific / 12 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, June 16. Following that, the company will be streaming live demos of its games for the remainder of E3.

You can watch Nintendo's comedic three-minute announcement of its announcement plans (which were pre-announced yesterday) below.
