Planetside 2 Beta Coming In January, Details Available In The New Year

According to Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley, it may not be too much longer before PlayStation 4 owners can dive into Planetside 2. The massive shooter is long overdue, and was originally slated for release in early 2014.

Smedley shared the news via Twitter with a fan inquiring about the release plans.

Planetside 2 will join Sony Online’s DC Universe Online, Warframe, Blacklight Retribution, and Loadout as a free to play offering on the PlayStation 4. Planetside 2’s arrival on PlayStation 4 could be a big revenue generator for Sony Online and for longtime PC players. The Player Studio items will become available for console players, meaning new eyeballs on even older cosmetic goods. If successful on console, Player Studio could herald a new wave of player entrepreneurs on console.
