Comedian And Game Lover Robin Williams Dies Of Apparent Suicide
Robin Williams, the comedy legend who built his reputation as a stand-up performer and starred in Hollywood movies for decades, was found dead this afternoon at the age of 63.
Williams, who had been battling severe depression according to his publicist, was found in his Tiburon, California home. Marin Country officials confirmed the death. Last month he checked into the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Minnesota to continue his fight for sobriety.
Williams cut his teeth as a comedian in the '70s, but eventually crossed over into more dramatic roles in films like Dead Poets Society. He won a best supporting actor Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting. He delighted audiences throughout his career, starring in hits like Good Morning Vietnam, Mrs. Doubtfire, and The Fisher King.
Williams was also an avid gamer, professing his unabashed love for Call of Duty, and even going as far to name his daughter Zelda after the classic Nintendo franchise. He appeared in multiple Nintendo marketing campaigns to promote the series.
