Microsoft Handing Out Free Xbox Ones, Copies Of Killer Instinct
If you are a long-time Xbox user, you might want to check your inbox. Microsoft has been sending out free consoles, retail games, and copies of the full version of Xbox One title Killer Instinct.
A tweet from Microsoft’s official Xbox account gives us a little insight into how people were chosen.
@Futterish We considered a variety of things like Gamerscore, LIVE tenure, & other factors in markets where #XboxOne is available.

For those who won Xbox One units, it seems that there are two different packages. Some will come with Forza Motorsport 5, while others come with Forza, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Zoo Tycoon, 12 months of Xbox Music, and 12 months of Xbox Live Gold.
Congratulations to the lucky winners.
Our Take
Based on anecdotal evidence, it seems that the prizes started kicking in if you are “Master” level in the Xbox Rewards program. This requires 75,000 Gamerscore and doesn’t consider length of Xbox Live membership. For reference, I'm one tier below that (Legend level), and I’ve been a member since the beta test on the original Xbox and my inbox was empty this morning.
