No Wii U, PlayStation 4, Or Xbox One Plans For Ultra Street Fighter IV
In response to fan inquiries on Twitter, Street Fighter series executive producer Yoshinori Ono apologized and said that there are no plans to bring the game to Wii U, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One.
Ultra Street Fighter IV was announced during this weekend's EVO Tournament. It will be available early next year, and will add new characters and stages as DLC, or you can buy the game at retail with all of Street Fighter IV's previous DLC included on the disc. Our Take
It's disappointing, but not surprising to learn that Ultra Street Fighter IV won't be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As we journey into the next-generation, it might be time to start thinking about Street Fighter V. However, not appearing on the Wii U seems like it could be a bit of a missed opportunity. It would be a nice treat for Wii U owners who are waiting for Smash Bros. to have a quality fighting game on the console. Also, as fighting games get closer and closer to the world of spectator sports, it seems like there could be some interesting innovations to experiment with having an extra screen. Maybe the player could play on the GamePad, while television viewers could have full 360 degree camera control to watch the match, or something along those lines. It makes you wonder if Capcom felt burned by releasing a 3DS version of Street Fighter IV at launch.
