Vita Game Downloads On Day One

Sony is planning to release the PlayStation Vita handheld in the States sometime before March next year, and when it does, you'll be able to get your games a few different ways.

Speaking at a GDC Online session, Chris Norden, Sony senior staff developer support engineer, confirmed that the system's launch games will be simultaneously available via traditional retail channels as well as through a PSN download. Norden also confirmed that similar to your phone, the Vita will be held to a 20MB download cap when using the 3G model. Of course, Vita's titles will be much larger than that, so you'll have to use the handheld's Wi-Fi functionality to pull down such large content.

Later in the session, Norden also mentioned that developers are allowed to create free-to-play titles on the Vita if they want to.
