Free Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer DLC Coming Soon

by Phil Kollar on Nov 24, 2010 at 06:00 AM

Ubisoft took a surprising chance by adding multiplayer into the Assassin's Creed formula with Brotherhood, but it ended up being rather fun. If you've been enjoying the unique multiplayer, Ubisoft has a nice holiday gift for you: free DLC.

The Animus Project Update 1.0 DLC will be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade on December 14 for no charge. It will add in the new Advanced Alliance mode, which ups the difficulty (and subsequent rewards) of the current Alliance game type.

Also included is a brand new map, Mont Saint-Michel. Based in Normandy, France, this location is full of multi-level buildings and narrow streets, and a beautiful bell tower rests in the middle of it all. Check out a first screenshot of the new locale below.

Assassin's Creed executive producer Sebastien Puel says this DLC will be free as a "thank you to our fans for making Brotherhood such a huge success in its opening week." Though no other Brotherhood DLC has been formally announced, the press release for Animus Project Update 1.0 frequently refers to it as the "first multiplayer DLC," suggesting more in the works...and maybe some separate single-player DLC to go with it? Here's hoping.
