Prepare For Cataclysm: Buy World Of Warcraft And Expansions For Cheap

by Phil Kollar on Nov 23, 2010 at 02:00 PM

Cataclysm, the third expansion pack for World of Warcraft, releases two weeks from today. In addition to new end-game content and raising the level cap from 80 to 85, this expansion brings with it major changes to the the level 1-60 content and zones, streamlining and improving quests and the leveling process to make Blizzard's hit MMO even more accessible to newcomers. But if you are just such a newcomer, how much money will you have to throw down to get caught up? Good news: not very much at the moment.

Blizzard is currently offering some crazy deals for the base World of Warcraft and its first two expansions via its online store. The original game and the Burning Crusade expansion are going for a measly $5, while 2008's fantastic Wrath of the Lich King expansion will set you back $10. So basically, this is hundreds of hours of one of the best MMOs ever created that would normally cost you around $80 available for $20.

Best of all, curious gamers who purchase the original World of Warcraft at its reduced fee will automatically have access to the new and improved Azeroth that went live on servers today -- so you're not only paying less money than a week ago, you're also getting a better experience.

For anyone who's hesitant to spend more than they need to, the base game will cover all of the tweaked content up to level 60. Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King are only needed for levels 61-80, and the zones included in those expansions are not affected by the new patch.

So is anyone planning to take Blizzard up on their crazy deal and jump into Azeroth for the first time? It's unclear how long Blizzard will be offering these games on the cheap, so get in while you can.
