Miyamoto's Favorite Mario Game Is...

Hold onto your hats and get those pitchforks ready. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed his favorite Mario game.

Speaking in an interview with USA Today, Miyamoto readily admitted that his favorite game in the much-loved series is Super Mario World, the first Mario title developed for the SNES. The legendary game designer even explained his reasoning for the choice:

"Super Mario World is something that included of course all the action you saw in Super Mario Bros. but it also had the map features, so it also had that element of players having to think about where they were going and what they were going to do next. I also think that it is a game that developed a large number of staff people who became producers and directors."

I hate to be the jerk who has to break the bad news to a developer as amazing as Miyamoto, but the correct answer is actually Super Mario Bros. 3 (which, it should be noted, also has a map). Super Mario World is a close second, though.

Miyamoto also discussed Mario's future in the interview, dropping some hints about what the Mario game being created for the new 3DS handheld will be like.

So do you agree or disagree with Miyamoto's choice for favorite Mario game?
