Rumor: ZeniMax Acquires New Studio Made Up Of Ex-Starbreeze Devs

by Matt Helgeson on Nov 04, 2010 at 02:03 PM

ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda Sofworks, has been very active in acquiring new business assets in the last few years. Now, rumors are circulating that the company has added another new studio to its roster, which already includes id Software and Resident Evil creator Shinji MIkami's Tango Game Works. GamesRadar is reporting a rumor that ZeniMax has purchased Machinegames, a Swedish developer made up of ex-staffers from Starbreeze who worked on such titles as The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and The Darkness.

While the rumor hasn't been officially confirmed, GamesRadar did some checking and apparently Machinegames' URL is owned by ZeniMax Sweden and is actually listed as "ZeniMax Sweden AB" in Sweden's business records. If this is true, it looks like ZeniMax is going to be an even bigger player in the video game market in the coming years.
