Supreme Court Case Transcript

The recent arguments before the Supreme Court can now be read in their entirety.

A long standing tradition has kept cameras out of the Supreme Court, but that doesn't mean you can't get the exact details of what was said. The Supreme Court's website has been updated with a downloadable transcript of the oral arguments made by both sides in the case, as well as the questions put forth by the Justices.

It's a pretty remarkable read. There are numerous animated exchanges, but we've included one of the most notable below.

Justice Scalia:

What's a deviant – a deviant, violent video game? As opposed to what? A normal violent video game?

Mr. Morazzini (on behalf of California):

Yes, Your Honor. Deviant would be departing from established norms.

Justice Scalia:

There are established norms of violence?

Mr. Morazzini:

Well, I think if we look back –

Justice Scalia:

Some of the Grimm's fairy tales are quite grim, to tell you the truth.

Mr. Morazzini:

Agreed, Your Honor. But the level of violence –

Justice Scalia:

Are they okay? Are you going to ban them, too?
