EA Air Drops New Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam Expansion Details

by Matt Bertz on Sep 16, 2010 at 03:00 AM

EA finally pulled back the veil on the highly anticipated multiplayer expansion for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Click to check out an all new trailer, three screenshots, and vital intel on the highly anticipated multiplayer expansion.

Vietnam includes four new maps featuring varied terrain like foxholes, tunnels, and dense jungles, plus all-new Vietnmese/American battlefield chatter based on authentic communication from the war. No word on if any of these maps are remakes from the original Battlefield Vietnam, but given the success of Battlefield 1943 we wouldn't be surprised by at least one blast from the past.

The maps feature six era specific vehicles, including the Huey chopper, Russian T54 tank, and the PBR patrol boat. As in the first Battlefield game based off the war, when you're in a vehicle you can rock out to one of eight different radio stations featuring 49 classic tracks like Creedence Clearwater Revival's war protest song "Fortunate Son" and Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries," which was immortalized in the famous chopper attack scene in Apocalypse Now. Fifteen new weapons make up the new arsenal, including the Navy SEAL XM22 machine gun, the standard issue M16, and the M79 grenade launcher.

Hardcore BC2 players will appreciate the fact that your stats and ranking carry over from Bad Company 2, and each new weapon features proficiency stars to collect. You can also earn 10 new achievements/trophies, one of which is rewarded for destroying propaganda spewing VC speakers.

As the trailer states, EA hasn't locked down a release date or price point yet for the expansion. What do you think? Is four maps enough for you?
