Video, Screens Of Indie RTS Apox Emerge

by Adam Biessener on Sep 09, 2010 at 10:00 AM

Indie Indian studio BlueGiant Interactive announced its debut title today. Apox, a post-apocalyptic (what else?) real-time strategy game for PC and Mac, is expected to ship later this year.

The video makes Apox look like a fairly vanilla RTS, but one interesting mechanic teased in the announcement that isn't demonstrated by the video is the ability to put soldiers into vehicles to create new unit types. How this will become interesting gameplay instead of finicky micromanagement is yet to be seen, but at least there's a new idea in here somewhere.

BlueGiant plans to ship Apox with over 100 maps and support for 32-player multiplayer, which could be a niche all its own. Can you imagine a 32-player free-for-all match? I'm not sure I want to play one, but I'd love to hear a talented shoutcaster give a play-by-play on the chaos.
