Might And Magic Heroes VI Announced

by Phil Kollar on Aug 18, 2010 at 01:53 AM

If you're like me and have missed the fantasy turn-based strategy of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, there's good news from Gamescom. Ubisoft has announced that they are resurrecting the series with a slightly tweaked title as Might and Magic Heroes VI.

The game is in the works from Black Hole Entertainment, a Budapest-based developer that has previously released two middling strategy titles (Armies of Exigo in 2004 and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos in 2006). It takes place 400 years before Heroes of Might and Magic V, following the exploits of an Archangel who is attempting to unite the people of Ashan to prepare for a demonic invasion.

Ubisoft's announcement says Might and Magic Heroes VI will feature the classic gameplay of the series but "remasterized," whatever the hell that means. As long as I can build up an army of thousands of skeletons and kill a dragon or two with it, I'm down. They're also promising a "new and intelligent online community interface" that will include the ability to share content in some way.

Might and Magic Heroes VI is planned for release in 2011. You can check out the reveal trailer and some first screenshots on the official website, and we'll post more info here as soon as we have it.
