Doom 4 Coming To Consoles And PC Simultaneously

by Joe Juba on Aug 16, 2010 at 08:00 AM

Despite a promise at last year's QuakeCon, Doom 4 was nowhere to be seen at the event's 2010 incarnation. However, the team at id Software is still working on the next installment in the classic shooter franchise, aiming for a simultaneous release on all platforms.

According to id Software CEA Todd Hollenshead, the target is for all three versions (PC, Xbox 360, and PS3) to hit at the same time. "That's absolutely what we're thinking," he told Kotaku. "That would certainly be the hope."

A simultaneous multiplatform release would be a nice change, considering that Doom 3 hit on PC first in 2004, then only on original Xbox the following year.

Looking ahead to Doom 4's release may be a bit premature; don't forget that the studios other big project, Rage, is scheduled to hit first – September 13, 2011. So, though you still have plenty of id games in your future, you won't be playing them soon.
