THQ And Double Fine Team Up For Downloadable Titles

by Annette Gonzalez on Aug 10, 2010 at 10:12 AM

Double Fine is working on four downloadable titles, one of which is Costume Quest, an adventure RPG that will be released via a partnership with THQ, a deal that will also include a third-person adventure title coming early next year. Costume Quest is slated for fall.

"We wanted to make a big impression with these, our first downloadable games ever," said CEO Tim Schafer. "So we are coming out swinging with two great adventures from two of the most creative minds in the company."

In Costume Quest, players will be trick-or-treaters on Halloween and collect candy, points, quest assignments and more from the game's neighborhood. The items collected will be used as power-ups in the game's Combat Mode where the trick-or-treaters transform into super sized versions of their costumes with super powers to boot.

"We are delighted to work with the creative genius of Tim Schafer and the entire Double Fine studio," said Martin Good, executive VP of THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games, and Global Online Services. "Delivering high-quality content across a variety of digital distribution platforms is an important growth initiative for us, and we are pleased to do so with two titles whose potential appeal could encompass both hardcore and casual players."

The second title still remains a mystery, but we hope to hear more soon.
