How To Get $15 From Microsoft

by Matt Miller on Aug 03, 2010 at 01:00 PM

We've got the details on claiming your reward if you've been buying this year's Summer of Arcade games.

A while back Microsoft announced plans to reward gamers if they purchased titles from this year's Summer of Arcade lineup. Specifically, players will get 400 Microsoft points ($5) if they buy any three games, and 1200 points ($15) if they buy all five games. The list of eligible games includes Limbo, Hyrdo Thunder Hurricane, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Monday Night Combat, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Each title costs 1200 points ($15).

A little late in the day to do math for you, huh? Alright, we'll do the hard part. If you buy three games for a subtotal of $45, you'll get $5 back, for a final total of $40. Alternately, you can purchase all five titles for a subtotal of $75, and you'll receive $15 back, for a final total of $60.

How might one receive this payout? Microsoft says purchases need to be completed by August 31st at 11:59 pm Eastern time. At that point, Xbox Live will automatically take stock of your transactions and determine what amount to refund. Whether you're getting 400 or 1200 points back, the points will be deposited directly into your Xbox Live account within four weeks (around the end of September).

The Summer of Arcade titles were pricey this year. However, this promotional offer certainly softens the blow. Will you take advantage of the deal?
