Dragon's Lair Trilogy Announced, Isn't Exactly A Trilogy

by Phil Kollar on Jul 30, 2010 at 07:30 AM

Who doesn't remember the adventures of Dirk the Daring? Even if you've somehow never played Dragon's Lair (like me), certainly you've at least seen our Replay Roulette on the game (skip to the 20-minute mark on that video if you'd like to)? If for someone reason you're still unaware of this one-time arcade champion, you'll be able to catch up in Destineer's just-announced Dragon's Lair Trilogy for the Wii. What's that? Dragon's Lair isn't a trilogy? Well, technically that's true....

This single disc will include Dragon's Lair and its 1991 sequel, Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp. The third game in the package is Space Ace, a title that has the same style of gameplay as well as Don Bluth's beautiful art. Though it's often lumped in with Dragon's Lair for those reasons, there aren't any storyline or character ties between the series that I know of.

So yeah, the Trilogy title may be a little misleading, but hey, it's still three classic games in one package! Dragon's Lair Trilogy will also feature remastered animation, a choice between widescreen and fullscreen, move guides for players who are new to the series, and even a "Watch Mode" that let's you just sit back and enjoy the story and animation without the ever-present risk of in-game death.

Dragon's Lair Trilogy will be available at some point this fall for $29.99.
