BioWare Writer Taking Lead On Darkspore's Story

by Phil Kollar on Jul 26, 2010 at 03:15 PM

Some rumors were flying around earlier today that BioWare would somehow be helping out with Darkspore, EA's new action-RPG title. You'll have to scale back your expectations a bit, though. As it turns out, a writer from BioWare will be lending his hand to the new project.

Destructoid has the helpful clarification. Rather than a major chunk of BioWare helping Maxis create Darkspore, writer Malcolm Azania will be the lead writer for the fiction of the game. Azania helped write Mass Effect 2 and did some work for BioWare's Facebook game, Gift of the Yeti. He's also published a number of novels.

Darkspore may not have BioWare's expert hand guiding its game design, but let's be honest: Maxis knows how to make games too. However, they haven't really done a plot-heavy game, so getting a writer from a narrative-focused studio like BioWare to help out seems like a great idea.
