Super Mario Zombies Are Creepy As Hell, Also Cool

It's seems like since the dawn of time (or of the dead), gamers have been fascinated with turning their favorite protagonists into shambling, flesh-eating undead. Super Mario Bros. is high on the list of "what if" zombifications, and it's definitely been done before. It's this Mario fan/ zombie enthusiast's humble opinion, however, that it has never been done this well.

Flickr user mrksaari recently uploaded a batch of cosplay pictures featuring the core cast of Super Mario Bros. as the walking dead. We've got Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad all decked out in blood-soaked apparel and ghastly makeup. This zombified cast of Super Mario Bros. 2 has me wondering what the game would have been like if had turned out Mario wasn't dreaming after the credits, but having a horrible nightmare. Mama mia!
