New Silent Hill Will Be Like Second Game, Comic Coming

by Tim Turi on Jul 25, 2010 at 08:27 AM

Konami has a lot of work to do in order to drag the Silent Hill series from the wretched, clunky, frightless gutter it’s stuck in. Thankfully, some encouraging words have come from a writer working on the newest installment. Not only does he mention the new title will be more like Silent Hill 2, but also that a comic is on the way.

“What I'll say is, this is going to be a great game and it's going back to the core spirit, maybe people would point to Silent Hill 2,” said writer Tom Waltz when asked how the game is coming along. “ It's character driven, it's very dramatic and I think it's gonna rejuvenate the title.”

He also brings up that many fans wish to visit Silent Hill during an earlier era only mentioned briefly in games. Iin order to flesh out the town’s dark past, the comic takes place during the 1800’s and stars a no-good outlaw named Jebediah Foster.

“So we came up with this story that he's an outlaw and a really bad guy, and he meets this godly widow who changes his ways, think of [Clint] Eastwood's Unforgiven,” Waltz said..”She has a family home in Silent Hill that's abandoned that she wants to move to away from the madness out west that she thinks will change them. Of course when they get there these things he's done in his past and like any good Silent Hill story he'll have to face the ghosts of his past..”

The Silent Hill comic will be a four issue run and be available in October.
