Sonic's Ring Obsession Leads To Obesity

What if every time Sonic the Hedgehog  collected a ring he gained a little weight? What if he became so overweight that his little hedgehog legs couldn't support his loop-the-loops any longer? The answer can be found in this video of a clever Sonic fan's hacked ROM of the game.

This awesomely hilarious hack showed up in a NeoGAF thread dedicated to cool ROM modifications. I can't help but wonder how difficult playing through all of Sonic 2 without collecting more than twenty or so rings would be, but I want to try.
