Warren Spector Shows Off Epic Mickey
The Deus Ex mastermind gave a brief, but enticing presentation of Epic Mickey at the Nintendo press conference today.
We saw a quick look at the Peter Pan world where Mickey helped out Captain Hook's minion, Smee. Spector claimed that Mickey hasn't become the video game star he deserves to be, but that his team aims to change that. Live gameplay showed Mickey blasting everything in sight with paint to manipulate the world. Spector spoke of the importance of choice in the game. The most exciting element on display was a 2D platforming section called a Travel Zone that gets Mickey to different parts of the Wasteland. This stage on display was in black and white and based on Mickey's classic cartoon short Steamboat Willy.
