Borderlands Developer Trademarks Z-Day

by Ben Reeves on May 26, 2010 at 01:00 PM

Borderlands was one of our favorite titles of 2009, and we’ve been eating up the game’s various DLC ever since. We know that developer Gearbox is still working on Aliens: Colonial Marines, but that can’t be the only project the company has cooking. If a recent trademark is any indication, the developer could also be working on a zombie title.

Sites such as Siliconera have already started to speculate that Z-Day could be a game about the start of a zombie apocalypse. The term Z-Day is actually used in Max Brooks' popular novel "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War," so it seems likely that Gearbox’s next game could tie into that novel. However, it’s also possible that this game could have nothing to do with Max Brooks or even zombies. We’ll just have to wait to find out.

Any guesses?
