Comic Jumper Leaps Into Barbarian Comic

by Tim Turi on May 07, 2010 at 12:30 PM

Captain Smiley has already invaded the superhero realm in previous coverage for the XBLA title, Comic Jumper. Next up is a grittier comic filled with early B.C. barbarians, dinosaurs, and cavewomen with big, er… boots. We’ve got a slew of new screens and art showing off the drastically different art style for the game.

These new screens show off an art style reminiscent of Frank Frazetta, a comic artist known crafting for dark, fantastical worlds filled with muscle-bound warriors and exotic creatures. Comic Jumper: Nonoc the Obliviator is filled with those classic elements, complete with a Tigersaurus and scantily clad slave girl. Of course the trademark Twisted Pixel humor is entirely intact as well.

“This is so overly ambitious, it’s pretty much the dumbest thing I’ve ever done,” said Art Director David Leung, “But at our expense, players will be treated to something I don’t think has ever been attempted before: four completely distinct and historically relevant art styles all in one place.”

Comic Jumper is looking awesome. Just check out the boatload of art and screens in the media gallery below and see for yourself. I just hope one of the four comics involve some sort of Sin City, Dick Tracy-esque Noir tribute.

Expect hands-on impressions from Comic Jumper’s Nanoc The Obliviator comic at this year’s E3.
