Map Editor Arriving Soon For StarCraft II Beta

by Phil Kollar on Apr 21, 2010 at 08:10 AM

One of the most controversial changes in StarCraft II -- besides the whole being split up into three separate retail releases thing -- was the announcement during last year's BlizzCon that players will be able to charge money for maps and modes created in the game's powerful editor. Though the ability to make bank from your awesome creations won't be available until the full release, beta players will get a test run of the StarCraft II map editor very soon.

ShackNews reports that a new patch for the StarCraft II beta will be available some time this week. The patch will reset the ladder rankings and stats from the beta while adding in the Galaxy Editor. User-created maps and scenarios will not yet be able to be uploaded to Battle.net for easy distribution.

According to the report, the patch will also contain some balancing changes, and it will be followed by a Mac client for the beta soon.
