Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker/Monster Hunter Crossover

by Ben Reeves on Apr 07, 2010 at 09:38 AM

Cartoons and comics have been doing crossovers for decades now. Aside from Super Smash Bros.' character shuffle, video games haven’t seen much cross-company hijinks. However, Konami recently held a press conference in Japan to celebrate the release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, where it announced that the game would be chock full of references to Capcom’s Monster Hunter Series.

As Joystiq dutifully reported, Monster Hunter’s Felynes – humanoid felines who populate nearly every town in the Monster Hunter series – will also inhabit Peace Walker to some degree. Special rations in Peace Walker will also appear with the words “well-cooked rations,” a reference to Monster Hunter’s health-restoring well-cooked meat. In addition it looks like there will also be a few extra missions where Snake does some Monster Hunting himself. Check out the video below to see the game in action, and thanks to Shaiapouf for the news tip.

This probably doesn’t mean much to anyone who’s not a fan of Monster Hunter and Metal Gear, but we’re all for video game crossovers. What would you guys like to see next? Devil May Cry meets Final Fantasy? Master Chief in BioShock 3? Maybe this kind of stuff isn’t just for fan fiction after all.
