Mario Madness Sweet 16 Poll Voting Is Live!

After tabulating thousands of votes, we, the bean counters of Gameinformer.com, are proud to announce that polling is open for the Sweet 16 round of our Mario Madness bracket poll.

Overall, many of the heavy hitters you’d expect carried the day, with games like Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Galaxy all advancing.

However, some contests were extremely tight, most notably New Super Mario Bros. DS, which upset the third seed Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars by a mere three votes. Other upsets include seventh seed Mario Paint’s victory over second seed Mario’s Picross, and the shocking defeat of Super Mario Bros. 2 by Mario Kart 64. With that loss, Super Mario Bros. 2 becomes the only of the original NES Mario trilogy to fail to pass the first round. It looks like the perennial black sheep of the family [insert Doki Doki Panic joke here] just didn’t have what it takes in the tournament.
