Over 25 Million Modern Warfare 2 Players, DLC Details Coming

by Jeff Marchiafava on Mar 08, 2010 at 09:02 AM

We here at Game Informer might be a little obsessed with Bad Company 2 right now, but a recent tweet from Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling serves as a definitive reminder of just how massively popular Modern Warfare 2 is.

Bowling’s tweet revealed that the game has just passed 25 million unique online players since launch, counting players on all three platforms. Bowling also names Xbox 360 as the platform with the most players, and mentions that details on the upcoming DLC will be revealed this week as well.

The news may be bittersweet for fans of the series after last week’s hoopla involving the termination of studio heads, Jason West and Vince Zampella. After all, 25 million unique online players is pretty solid evidence that the duo did something right. Which leaves us with the following question: Will future sequels be as popular as Modern Warfare 2, or will loyal fans declare war on Activision for its handling of series' creators?
