Activision SEC Filing Hints At More Diablo Sequels

We've still got a nice, long wait ahead of us for Diablo III, but what if I were to tell you that Blizzard might already have plans for further Diablo games after this long-awaited sequel? That excitement you're feeling in your gut right now is the very reason that this latest rumor about more Diablo games in the works has picked up traction.

It all started wehn the eagle-eyed folks over at CVG picked up on the following phrase in a recent Activision SEC filing:

"Blizzard is currently developing new games, including a new expansion pack to the World of Warcraft franchise, Cataclysm, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which will be released with the new and improved Battle.net, and sequels to the Diablo franchise."

The plural "sequels" in that bolded section has people talking. Of course, it's entirely possible that this was just a mix-up in filing the legal document that should was only meant to refer to Diablo III. We reached out to Blizzard for clarification and got the following response:

"We appreciate the interest, but we don't have any new announcements to make. For the Diablo franchise, our full focus is on Diablo III."

Sounds to me like even in the off chance that a Diablo IV is in the very early works, we won't hear about it for a long time. Back to waiting for the third game, everyone.
