More God Of War Being Planned By Sony

by Tim Turi on Jan 19, 2010 at 05:17 AM

Worried that the upcoming God of War III will mark the end of the series? Fret no longer. Sony Santa Monica's director of product development, John Hight, says "This is not the end of God of War."

“This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we’re going to continue to do God Of War games," Hight told Gamervision. "We’re going to be very careful about what we do; we’re the keepers of the franchise and we don’t want to see it ruined or polluted.”

Considering the development team responsible for the God of War franchise has grown from 60 to 130 during the course of the series, now would be a bad time to abandon ship.

“We had some pretty interesting challenges going into God Of War III. It was the first time we were on PlayStation 3, we knew that this was going to be the last game in the trilogy so we needed to pull out all the stops, not only technologically but we had to tell a great story at the same time."

Hight goes on to explain that the PlayStation 3 is being pushed to its limits in order to bring the current GoW trilogy to a close. Krato's battle across the back of a titan in God of War III features a dynamic, living environment, harnessing a level of technology that Hight says he's unaware that other games have had.

We've been having a hard enough time keeping our composure while waiting for God of War III to release this March, but now we can't stop thinking about what the future of the franchise will bring. Kratos is running out of things to kill.
