The Beatles: Rock Band Crosses 1 Million Sold Threshold

by Matt Miller on Dec 11, 2009 at 06:51 AM

With steady sales throughout the holiday season, The Beatles: Rock Band has sold over one million copies worldwide. News of the sales milestone comes via both Gamespot and Industry Gamers, according to information they obtained from a Harmonix spokesperson. The wider Rock Band franchise also recently hit another major milestone, as its downloadable catalog for Rock Band/Rock Band 2 exceeded 1000 songs.

The news comes amid the unfortunate word that Harmonix has been forced to cut 13% of its work force (39 employees), largely among their QA department. The layoffs are said to involve a structural realignment, where the developer will utilize more "temporary/part time help, outsourcing and support from external partners (which is in line with how other game developer manage their QA departments."

Even amid mixed reports on the health of the music game genre, games like The Beatles: Rock Band still appear to be getting played by a lot of folks. Do music games still have a big place in your playing habits?
