God of War III Is Almost Finished

by Joe Juba on Dec 11, 2009 at 11:20 AM

God of War III is scheduled to release in March 2010, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that development is wrapping up. Sony Santa Monica director of development, John Hight, recently confirmed "the entire game is complete."

In this interview with PlayStation Blog's Jeff Rubenstein, Hight explains that the team is in the final stages of development. "We just made beta with the game right before Thanksgiving. So, we're doing a lot of playtesting, tuning the game to make sure that it's fun, got the right level of complexity and – of course – optimized so it runs super-smooth."

While all of the content is in place, the time between now and the game's release will focused on polishing the experience. "Beta for us means that the entire game is complete. We're not adding anything to it, but we are tuning the game to make it more fun, taking out some of the rough edges, debugging, making sure it doesn't crash."

Since so many high-profile games have recently seen delays into the first part of 2010, it says something when a major release being on-schedule is a newsworthy occurrence.

When March rolls around, will you be picking up God of War III, or will you still be busy with holiday/early 2010 titles?
