SOCOM Patch & DLC Finally Coming

by Matthew Kato on Dec 10, 2009 at 10:45 AM

It's been a long time coming, but SOCOM: Confrontation fans are finally getting the Cold Front DLC and 1.6 patch content that Sony and developer Slant Six have promised.

The game's 1.6 patch is now available for free download, and it contains a number of additions and changes.

  • Two new special forces groups (the Dutch KCT & the Italian COMSUBIN)
  • Four new weapons like the AK-74 & SR-25, plus special weapons for the Dutch KCT (417 assault rifle) and Italian COMSUBIN (SPAS 15 shotgun) special forces
  • Weapon balancing such as grenade and rocket launchers having less delay between shots, and shotguns' damage being more variable over range

Sony is also putting out the Cold Front DLC pack on December 17 with variable pricing. The DLC will cost $9.99 through December 20, after which it'll cost $14.99. The Cold Front DLC pack includes:

  • A new snowy setting in Eastern Europe and Russia including snow gear
  • The Arms Run mode which commands you to either disable or active specially placed missile launchers
  • Five new maps: Uprising, Entrapment, Blizzard, Night Stalker, Vigilance. This includes three classic SOCOM maps redesigned for the PS3
  • New weapons, music, trophies, and the Russian Spatsnaz special forces squad
  • Primary and secondary specialization of characters including exclusive equipment
  • Flash and smoke grenade launcher round types

Is $14.99 too high of an asking price for DLC that's been talked about for quite a while?
