Portal Team Lead Joins Airtight Games

by Matt Miller on Dec 07, 2009 at 12:12 PM

Kim Swift, who acted as team lead for Valve’s Portal, has accepted a position at Airtight Games, the developers of the upcoming action game, Dark Void. Other than Portal, Swift worked on both Left 4 Dead and its sequel. In her new role at Airtight, she’s being given the chance to build her own team to work on games targeted at “a more diverse audience."

In the press release that came our way today, Airtight’s president, Jim Deal, expressed his enthusiasm about the new addition to the development studio. “We are thrilled to work with Kim. Her addition to the team represents a strategic move by Airtight Games into new and broader gaming markets.”

Needless to say, this news means that Kim Swift likely won’t be extensively involved in any major follow-ups to Portal; Swift was instrumental in producing the first Portal game, which was a critical darling in 2007.
